To support Mount Stuart’s summer exhibition From Brick to Building: Mount Stuart’s Development, an additional in-person curator led talk will be given showcasing original material from the Bute Collection to illustrate the architectural history of Mount Stuart. The talk will take place in the red library at 10.15am on Saturday 19th September and will last for 1 hour.
This talk will highlight the architecture of Mount Stuart as it has been revived and reimagined since its inception. Following a fire in December 1877 todays Mount Stuart is the result of the genius of John Patrick Crichton-Stuart, 3rd Marquess of Bute (1847-1900) in having the house rebuilt through his vision and imagination.
