Introducing the Mount Stuart Nursery

The Nursery at Mount Stuart: Now Open to Visitors

As part of our 30th anniversary celebrations, the Mount Stuart Nursery will be open to visitors for the first time in over 30 years, throughout July and August 2025.

Traditionally a private family space, the Nursery offers a rare glimpse into the childhood world of Mount Stuart’s past generations. Overlooking the gardens and the sea beyond, the room is notable for its soft pink walls, original Victorian furnishings and hand-painted botanical panels featuring native plant species from the Isle of Bute.

The space also includes a carefully preserved collection of books, toys, keepsakes, and objects that reflect both the everyday and the imaginative lives of the children who once played and learned here. Visitors will also have the chance to visit the newly opened White Room which has a connecting door to the Nursery and belonged to the Mount Stuart Nanny.

The Nursery and White Room will be open to the public until Sunday 31 August, offering visitors the chance to experience this unique part of the house's history.
