Mount Stuart Trust Celebrates 30th Anniversary

2025 marks a significant milestone for Mount Stuart Trust as we celebrate 30 years of dedicated stewardship on the Isle of Bute.

From the architectural splendour of Mount Stuart House to the peaceful beauty of its historic gardens and grounds, the Trust has spent the past three decades caring for this remarkable estate ensuring it can be enjoyed by all, now and for generations to come.

Since 1995, we have welcomed visitors from around the world, hosted acclaimed exhibitions and performances, supported artists, scholars and students, and provided an unforgettable setting for weddings and private events. Most importantly, we’ve built meaningful and lasting connections with our local community.

Our work extends well beyond the walls of the house. The wider estate is home to a rich and thriving ecosystem, including ancient woodlands, diverse habitats and iconic native species such as the red squirrel. Through careful environmental management, we are proud to support local biodiversity and protect the landscape that makes Mount Stuart so distinctive.

We are committed to ensuring the land we manage has a meaningful and positive impact for those who live and work on the Isle of Bute. That includes supporting sustainable opportunities for our agricultural and commercial tenants, as well as delivering on ambitious biodiversity targets and the thoughtful management of amenity land across the estate.

As a charitable Trust, we are continually working to protect the special places and spaces within our portfolio and this anniversary offers a moment to reflect on the journey so far and to thank all of those who have played a part in it; our dedicated Trustees and team, apprentices, volunteers, supporters and everyone who has shared in the story of Mount Stuart.

Throughout 2025, we're marking our 30th year with a programme of special events and activities and we warmly invite you to be part of the celebrations whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning friend.

Thank you for being part of our past and our future.

Here’s to the next 30 years!
