The Isle of Bute on BBC Scotland's Landward

Did you catch the Landward Isle of Bute episode on Thursday 7th May?

The programme highlights a range of local organisations and initiatives, reflecting the breadth of work taking place across the island. Amongst those featured are entrepreneurs and local groups including Apple Tree Nursery, Beachwatch Bute, Bute Red Squirrel Group, and Kerrycroy Farmers.

Filming took place within Mount Stuart's Gardens and on land under our stewardship, forming part of the island setting seen throughout the episode. This included a segment with Malcolm Newdick of the Bute Red Squirrel group, in our Wee Garden, where our Garden Team has recently installed squirrel feeders as part of ongoing biodiversity work.

While Mount Stuart is not a focus of the programme, the landscapes in our care contribute to the wider character of Bute and reflect a long-term commitment to sustainable land management.

The themes explored - nature, community activity and connection to place - closely align with work happening across the island.

We are pleased to have supported the filming of this episode, alongside the individuals and organisations contributing to the island’s communities and environment. Our thanks to the presenters, Director Nadine Lee and the BBC team for capturing Bute in such a thoughtful and generous way.
