Here at Bute Kitchen we are as passionate about food and drink as we are about our home at Mount Stuart.

On the island of Bute we are surrounded by fabulous producers and suppliers and we are proud to include fresh, local and Scottish ingredients on our kitchen menu. Our coffee is from Bute-based Coffee Conscience and our milk, cream and eggs are from McAlister’s Dairy. We are proud to showcase meats from Macqueens, smoked fish from Ritchie’s and ice cream from Zavaronis – all based within a few short miles of Mount Stuart. And where we can’t get the ingredients here, our friends at Caledonian MacBrayne ferry over smoked meats from Rannoch Smokery, cheese from Cows and Co, Mackies Crisps and Stoats porridge bars to name only a few.

The Bute Kitchen team bakes and cooks ‘from scratch’ and our philosophy is to take great ingredients and create hearty soups, fresh sandwiches and salads, hot ‘Bute Bakes’ and irresistible scones and cakes.

In our Courtyard and Visitor Centre shops we stock a range of unique local and regional crafts with a Scottish twist – like our Hairy Coos! We’re passionate about supporting local suppliers stocking fantastic gifts from Isle of Bute Candle Company, Animac Design and Ruth Slater as well as books related to Mount Stuart and Bute, guidebooks and postcards. You’ll also find Bute Fabrics bags, sporran purses, hip flakes and Stuart of Bute Tartan ties and much more besides!
