Bute Yard

Bute Yard

Bute Yard has recently undergone a full external restoration completed in consultation with Historic Environment Scotland and Argyll & Bute Council. Occupying a prominent position in the heart of Rothesay, Bute Yard is conveniently located behind the Mansion House which sits opposite the Castle.

Owned by the Mount Stuart Trust, Bute Yard is being developed in a separate partnership between the Chairman of the Mount Stuart Trust and The Isle of Bute Gin Company to become a flexible event space, which will add to the vibrancy, activity and experience of Bute’s largest town. The Isle of Bute Gin Company will be distilling their products at Bute Yard from 2020 onwards.

Collaborating closely with local businesses, Bute Yard will become a hub for a mix of uses, both indoor and outdoor. From food festivals featuring local produce from Bute Kitchen and other suppliers, to farmers markets and community celebrations, the space will also support and complement significant long standing local events such as the Bute Highland Games, the Agricultural Show, and Bute Fest to name a few.

Along with Mount Stuart House and Gardens, Bute Yard will provide a dynamic offer to those both on the island, and those visiting, and make a significant contribution to the island economy.
