Art of Power

Ticket Type

31 MARCH 2017 – 14 JANUARY 2018*

Art of Power is an exciting new collaborative exhibition, split across two venues, The Hunterian, Glasgow and Mount Stuart and the ticket price covers entry to the exhibition at both.

This two venue exhibition offers a unique opportunity to see major paintings from the Bute Collection at Mount Stuart, one of the foremost private collections in the UK.

The exhibition reveals a selection of rarely-seen masterpieces collected by the fascinating Enlightenment figure, John Stuart, Third Earl of Bute (1713-1792). After retiring from politics, Bute amassed a great art collection, which was particularly renowned for its Dutch and Flemish paintings.

From 30 October 2017 – 14 January 2017 the exhibition at Mount Stuart will be available by appointment only, Monday to Friday. During this period the House is closed to visitors and as such there will be no catering or retail available. If you are travelling by public transport the bus stop for Mount Stuart is a 15 minute walk from the House. We are not able to take appointments on 1 November, 8 November,  12 December and 18-29 December 2017.

Please email to book, we require one week notice to book an appointment.
