Mount Stuart recently welcomed Colin Boag as the new Managing Director of the Trust. We caught up with Colin to find out how his first few months on the job have been!
How has your first month in the job gone?
It has flown past. Lots to take in and even more to learn but it has been a fascinating and hugely enjoyable time.
Mount Stuart has so much going on, what has been your favourite part so far?
Without doubt my favourite bit has been working alongside the staff members as they go about their daily business. It has helped me understand all the myriad of activity that has to come together to make this such a special place.
How does this compare to your previous job?
It’s always difficult to make comparisons. I was the Chief Exec of a disaster relief charity so the roles are very different! But there are similarities with my time in the Fishmongers Company.
What are you looking forward to in this new role?
Two things; being able to support and enable such a talented team to achieve even more, and to improve the wider awareness of just what a great job the Mount Stuart Trust does.
Which parts of Bute have you had time to explore?
I sea kayak and cycle so I have spent my weekends and evenings getting to know the island. It is a stunning place with incredible views. Still some corners to get to though!
