Mount Stuart Trust, Isle of Bute

Owned and managed by the Mount Stuart Trust, the Bute Estate extends to some 10,900 hectares, including fertile lowlands, comprising around 90% of the Isle of Bute in the Firth of Clyde on Scotland’s’ picturesque West Coast.  Bute and its seaside town of Rothesay is surprisingly accessible being only a 35 minute ferry crossing from the mainland; in total one and a half hours travelling time from Glasgow.

The Trust is seeking a Buildings and Facilities Manager to undertake the day to day management of the property portfolio and facilities management function, reporting to the Head of Estates & Buildings. The role requires successful delivery of a diverse range of professional work associated with a busy estate including the repair, maintenance, conservation and facilities management of significant Grade A Listed country house, responsibility for the repair, maintenance and improvement of over 100 properties, and management of the in-house maintenance team and external contractors.  The Trust will be progressing an extensive multi-million pound development programme across all aspects of the estate and this is an exciting time to be joining one of Scotland’s leading rural estates.

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in buildings and facilities management with RICS or relevant industry qualifications and buildings conservation experience.  They will have extensive project management experience, be an effective communicator and an adept relationship manager.

A competitive salary will be awarded commensurate with experience together with a company car, non-contributory pension scheme and private healthcare.  It is desirable but not essential that the successful incumbent will become an island resident.
