Make your vows amidst the Scottish splendour of an array of different settings – all within this unique and spectacular Victorian palace and gardens.
Few stately homes offer such an array of extraordinary settings for religious and civil ceremonies as Mount Stuart. Be inspired by the magical gardens and have your own Midsummer Night’s Dream or let the flickering flames of carved marble fireplaces reflect your love inside the house.
Lined with the purest white Carrara marble, the stunning Marble Chapel is the perfect location for a religious or humanist ceremony. With the light streaming in through the ruby-red glass of the Clerestory, you may declare your love in the most beautiful and serene of surroundings.
A mystical space at the very heart of Mount Stuart, the Marble Hall is a glorious area in which to host a civil, humanist or religious ceremony. . With an awe-inspiring vaulted ceiling rising 80 feet above, adorned with the glass and silver stars of the constellations, the Marble Hall is truly unique in its magnificence and scale.
The wonderfully ornate Drawing Room exhibits one of the finest collections of fine art in Scotland, and themes of heraldry and mythology meet to create an interior rich in detail and opulence. Celebrate your union in the warmth of the vast marble fireplace, with views stretching across the lawns from the east-facing balcony to the sea beyond.
A beautiful room characterised by elaborate detailing and sumptuous textiles, the Purple Sitting Room is ideal for intimate weddings and civil ceremonies. The room features charming window seats, an impressive fireplace and like the Drawing Room enjoys unparalleled views across the Front Lawn to the Firth of Clyde. Resplendent in deep purple, this room will lend a romantic ambience to your special day.
The expansive and meticulously tended Front Lawn offers a stunning view of the ruggedly beautiful Scottish shoreline. The scene of a number of glittering occasions, this endless vision of smooth velvet green, with its exquisite scented borders, is the perfect setting for a large summer wedding.
The Rock Garden occupies the most prominent spot in the grounds, directly opposite the majestic House itself, and is home to a rare collection of evergreen trees, Asiatic plants and a cascading waterfall. Surprisingly secluded, and therefore with an intimate and intensely private feel, the Rock Garden is the perfect setting for a small outdoor ceremony among close family and friends.
Extending across an area of five acres, the ironically named Wee Garden boasts many exotic plants from around the Southern Hemisphere. Its centrepiece, a magnificently carved 17th Century obelisk, provides a stunning focal point for wedding ceremonies. Beautiful decorative urns and vibrant planted colour bring a wonderful sense of enchantment to summer weddings.
