Photography and Conservation
For reasons of conservation, photography is not allowed in the house. We ask that visitors wear sensible footwear (not high heels) to protect the floors of the house.

Group visits
Mount Stuart is happy to welcome groups. We are available for pre-booked group visits at most times of the year, subject to major works or events preventing us from accommodating your request. There is a concessionary rate for groups of 12 or more (£7.50 per person). We recommend that all groups contact us beforehand to let us know when they will be visiting. Winter tours are available by appointment, please call 01700 503877.
How to find us
We are approximately 50 minutes by road/rail from Glasgow/Glasgow Airport/Prestwick Airport to Wemyss Bay.
35 minutes ferry crossing: Weymss Bay to Rothesay.
We are 5 miles south of Rothesay town.
There is a spectacular scenic route via Argyll and Colintraive (ferry crossing to Rhubodach at north end of Bute).

Behind the Scenes Tours
in Scotland's Most Unusual Stately Home
See behind the scenes at Scotland's most stunning and unusual stately home with a Behind the Scenes Tour.
Your Guide will take you on a private Behind the Scenes tour viewing rooms such as the Swimming Pool, the Burges Chapel, the Billiard Room and other treats not normally open to the general public. Your fascinating exploration of Mount Stuart will culminate in a sumptuous Afternoon Tea served in the Private Family Drawing Room.
While you are here, take the time to explore the grounds, which contain such enchantingly named gardens as The Kitchen Garden, The Wee Garden and The Via Dolorosa.
The tour costs £50 per person and will last approximately three hours including Afternoon Tea.
