Katy Lynton (2003)

'Trip The Fantastic'

Katy Lynton graduated from Chelsea School of Art in 1991 and then went on to obtain a post-graduate from Central St Martins in 1995. She has exhibited widely and has work in collections across Europe, the USA and Australia. The exhibition of paintings is inspired by the artist's journey to the south-western states of America. Lynton celebrates the magnitude and beauty of the vast landscape, and captures the inherent sense of spirituality she found to be characteristic of the region. Her painting is intuitive and fantastical; she deconstructs and rebuilds the landscape using exuberant colour and form, reflecting the antithesis of space and density, stillness and vitality. Lynton says of her new works "I want my paintings to appear beautiful, almost edible and nourishing - so that they appeal to both the eye and the soul."
