Lined with the purest white Carrara Marble, this stunning Chapel is the finest private chapel in Scotland. Commissioned by the 3rd Marquess of Bute in 1896, the Chapel combines aspects of French, Spanish and Italian Gothic architecture.
The walls are dazzling white and the Clerestory contains ruby red glass, redolent of the Byzantine churches Bute had admired on his visit to Russia. The floor is in the Cosmati style popular in Medieval church buildings such as Westminster Abbey and is symbolic of the elements of earth, air, fire and water.
