Squirrels and birds nestle among the foliage in the exquisitely carved friezes that surround the Dining Room. Situated just off the Marble Hall, this impressive room has long been favoured for important dinners and grand entertaining.
Admire the outstanding collection of 18th Century portraiture that adorns the walls, including original works by Ramsay, Reynolds and Gainsborough. In the ante hall, you will see portraits by George Romney of the 1st Marquess of Bute and his first wife, Charlotte Windsor.
Stunning chandeliers and candelabra light up the room and original 18th Century fireplaces decorate each end - probably rescued from the first Mount Stuart house.
Oak leaves nestle in the wooden friezes, symbolic of the Stuart family and regularly appearing in decorative schemes throughout the house.
