The Visitor Centre Garden
When we opened our award-winning Visitor Centre in 2001, a contemporary new garden was laid to complement the building. Designed by James Alexander-Sinclair, it consists of wide parallel lines of planting inspired by the smooth curves of an unfurled paper clip.
The massed plants stand tall in their beds - their strong vertical emphasis contrasting with the dominating horizontal lines of the state-of-the-art centre. Visitors are treated to colourful blooms throughout the visiting season and beyond.
The area at the far side of the building has a completely different, wilder mood, having been designed to blend in with the backdrop of woods.
